Environmental Reporting

Canada and Texas have strong reporting requirements at both the national and the provincial level to ensure responsible development in the natural gas industry and to minimize impacts on air, water and land.

ERG Resources’s environmental reporting strives to meet or exceed these requirements. As an active member of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP), ERG Resources advocates for industry leadership in these areas. ERG Resources reports annual air emissions that meet reporting thresholds to Environment Canada via the National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) and to Texas Environment and Sustainable Resources Development (AESRD) via the provincial greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting program. NPRI data is publically accessible on Environment Canada’s and provincial GHG data is publically accessible on the AESRD. ERG Resources also follows CAPP Best Management Practice (BMP) for the management of fugitive emissions.

Direct and Indirect GHG Emissions

Unplanned releases to air, water, and land are reported to the Texas Energy Regulator (AER) in accordance with the provincial regulations. ERG Resources also maintains strict reporting standards that include internal reporting and mitigation of all small unplanned releases that are smaller than provincial reporting thresholds – right down to a single litre.

All of our Texas wells and facilities are regularly audited by the Texas Energy Regulator (AER) which publishes industry-wide reports and data which are available..

Reportable Spills

* One pipeline oil emulsion release of 340 m3 occurred in 2015 in ERG Resources’s non-core operations in Northwest Quebec. This release represented 97% of the corporate reportable release volume in 2015. This was a very rare event, has been fully investigated and cleaned up, and key steps have been taken to prevent recurrence.
